The USA 4th edition was distributed worldwide at the end of the printrun by WotC. They _knew_ about it but didn't realise that there were notable differences. As far as I know they only shredded the ones that were left after they stopped shipping 4ed to distributers.

Re: ABU versions

I heard (in the Rivals thread) that there are 5 different Alpha 'versions'. I think that you misread what dragsamou said. He didn't said that there were five different versions of Alpha, he said that one of the different versions of 4th edition have alpha-cut corners. .....re-reading..... RIGHT LOL...

Not to be discouraging, but if you don't already know these answers you aren't likely to get very far with your project. There are far more difficult questions to consider and most of what you want to do is probably already available on sites like http://www.magiccards.info or http://www.apathyhous...

ABU versions

I am creating a huge public database with all Magic cards, that generates lists for collectors. Starting with Alpha / Beta / Unlimited. I heard (in the Rivals thread) that there are 5 different Alpha 'versions'. Is there anywhere where I can find a complete list or can anyone post exactly what versi...

The Island with the 5 Clouds doesn't exist in Rivals US. Right, hmmm... so a * is missing from that page you linked. Or (just realised) its been replaced with the 5 clouds version in the 1996 box version. In any case my collection is correct and so is my understanding of this box set. Many thanks f...

This is normal with US Rivals, these 2 cards are not in the set ;-) I add a link with others infos. http://magic.flaminio.com/rari...

Regarding Carta Mundi print runs I _think_ that it is correct to assume that plates wear out and new ones have to be made. I have no clue about the whole printing proces but I can logically assume this because of the following: I bought two booster boxes after the end of Ice Age's printrun, where th...

Re: Rivals quick start set cards 1995 different?

Hi. All the US Rivals have that mark and have the 1995 Date. Whoa! Right... That means that those cards are unique as well...making 4ed even harder to collect now with FIVE DIFFERENT VERSIONS!! 4ED BREAKDOWN: 1994 preview (just 2 cards) 1995 regular 1995 USA mirror (special coating) 1995 Rivals (ma...

Rivals quick start set cards 1995 different?

Are the cards in the Rivals quick start set cards different? (standard 1995 version, obviously the 1996 version is) Maybe I'm just getting paranoid... ;-) I opened one such box in the hope they were 1996. Unfortunately they were standard 4ed 1995 cards. However, I did notice that ALL of them had a m...

Maybe the Atog isn't on the list because it is no Standard Misprint. I checked my Atogs, and only 3 have this X, 10 hadn't. So you can say about 25% have the X, the rest don't. (Maybe the percentage is different, I can only say for the few I have, maybe someone else has them too and can confirm or ...

Is there a list of standard misprints?

Is there a list anywhere of standard misprints? Only Arabian Nights misprints (most, not even all) are listed on the WotC site. A few examples: Desert (Arabian Nights) Misprint: dot in art Atog (Antiquities) Misprint: "X" in art Runesword (The Dark) Misprint: hair over textbox Maybe I am blind, but ...
