i was going to guess Disenchant - I win!!! And yeah - Loqii - amazing database - thanks. I was surprised at some of the other top reprints - Air Elemental? When I started my Global Stone Rain collection it was a -very- close thing between Stone Rain and Disenchant. Especially if you counted the bla...

You are CRAZED. The M:tG cardback is a branding disaster of unimaginable proportions.

The art is taken from released promo material. They just clipped it and stuck it on a virtual card back and made stuff up is my guess.

Sorry about the necro on this thread, but I just wanted to confirm this "card"'s existence for the Magic Library community. There seems to be a lack of closure on this thread. 5-Color holds an Invitational every other year or so, and the winner designs a "card" that is legal in 5-Color tournaments. ...

It appears to just be a residue on the plates, possibly from the cleaning solution.
Aw, I was hoping for something more interesting. If that's the case it's likely to not be on the foils, then I assume?

"Smoky" Jaya Ballard, Task Mage?

I saw this thread at MOTL, and more than one person is chiming in on a strange "whitening" around the Jaya Ballard, Task Mage card (in English, I assume). Has anyone seen one?

Re: Added to Replace Rainsford's laptop sale - beta test set

Rainsford wrote:Beta test set #1: The Dark
I traded for this set back around when the set after The Dark came out. (I forget which one.) It contains 77 cards in it, such as:

- Fellwar Stone
- The Tower (became Tower of Coireall)
- The Crypt (no clue – the text says “(Tap): Target creature cannot be blocked by walls until end of turn.â€￾)
- Green Thumb (no clue – the text says “You may put one additional land in play per turn, but that land must be a forest. You may sacrifice Green Thumb to add GG to your mana pool. This ability is played as an interrupt..â€￾)
- Ball Lightning
- Forest Goblins (no clue – 2/2 goblins (summoned for GR.)
- The Light (no clue – the text says “All non-white creatures get –1/-1 until the end of turn.â€￾)
"The Tower"'s art became Tower of Coireall, but it's got the ability of "The Crypt", I'm guessing. Maybe "The Crypt" is Tormod's Crypt?
Green Thumb is Gaea's Touch. Forest Goblins became Scarwood Goblins. The Light became Holy Light.

Yes, this is also true of Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese cards that used the old put-up. The mana symbols (numeric or otherwise) are a litttle smaller than other languages. This goes away in the new put-up, where everything is a little smaller.

On the matter of art, while I agree that the quality of the art over all has increased since the early days of Magic, there is a certain type of art that I don't see anymore that I really miss, and Ice Age had a lot of it (and no, I don't mean Amy Weber)... stuff with a little less polish, that loo...

My Burning-Tree Shaman has a little circle inside one of the letters in the name. Like an ink spill. It's not cool and running across the whole card, it's not a weird tint or anything. Am I right in assuming this makes this worth less than a normal BTS?

Does that mean... foil cards from Ice Age and Alliances !!? That's what has me, plastered_dragon, flatmatt, and other global set collectors wondering. Ice Age Stone Rain with new put-up? Can cards in Pre-Cons be foil? The languages are: English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese...

I haven't got an exact count, but I have roughly 1300 different english Lands in my binders, which include both the non-foil as well as the foil versions from all sets including special sets like anthologies, beatdown etc and all promo lands. Going for a global set, even if it was for only 1 type o...

Yes, yes, yes, and yes. :) Thanks for the A4E Stone Rain. I can't believe those went so long before being figured out by Bock--it looks pretty damn different. And not just a color shift like was common back then--the back is waxy and kind of gross. Your additions put me over 50! w00t! I really feel ...
