Re: Talking about Serious Misprints.

They were probably setup sheets for the printing (error checking, color matching, etc.).  Remember the chinese 5th edition uncommon sheets that were posted recently, with the animals on the back? Printers never waste anything, so sample sheets from one setup were probably flipped over to help s...

Re: Question about print process - and errors

The text is just printed in black, although I assume that the silver and gold expansion symbols use equivalent processing.

If you look at the mana symbols under magnification, you'll see that they are made up of dot patterns, not solid colors.

Re: Question about print process - and errors

Nothing much unusual with those cards, at least as far as printing is concerned.  Likely just one or two sheets weren't pulled along quite as far as they should have been during a single stage of the printing.   Card  printing is a sequence of coordinated processes, with the card back...

Re: ebay user names

I'm hammr7 almost everywhere.  I would have been hammer, but it was taken on AOL years ago.  hammr7 has been a lot easier on other sites as well, because no one else wants it.

Re: other fake cards in boosters

I think Axios is in the perfect mood for an invasion.  And I agree with him completely regarding his concerns. Counterfeit cards have the potential to destroy Magic collecting wherever they become common.  If accepted, they drive down prices.  If numerous, they also drive down prices,...

Re: Mox Crystal Value???

Then there are probably three versions.   I had one that was definitely a card, and not a sticker on a card.  It was sent to me by someone who was selling (and probably making) high quality proxies.  Apparantly the seller wanted to see who could be fooled (more than a few dealers were...

Re: offer for sheet

Ralph, There was a guy in Kentucky or Tennessee who put 3 or 4 of these up for sale in a series of individual eBay auctions (and seemed to have more of them).  As I stated above, they appear to be printer's sample runs.  These would normally be run as color checks, or possibly to check the...

Re: offer for sheet

It must be a New Jersey thing (or maybe its a July birthday thing?).  I bet Ben is talking about the Uncut sheets of Japanese (or was it Chinese?) 5th Edition uncommons.  There have been some offered recently on eBay.  They look like printers colormatching sheets, and they were run on...

Re: Mox Crystal Value???

A couple of years ago one or two of the "proxy" sellers decided to try their luck with the Mox Crystal.  If I'm not mistaken, there was a first generation that was a sticker, and a second generation that was an actual card.  Both were done with rather high production standards (if you reme...

Re: Bad new

I don't know if it will help, but: While a few individuals that sell both sealed product and singles might stop international sales, they probably have other reasons for doing so.  Wizards cannot stop secondary market transactions without running into legal problems, and both Wizards, and most ...

Re: What stupid card do you collect?

I got tired of all my "random" boxes of commons, so I now collect sets of common cards from older editions.  I have over 50 ice age sets and over 60 revised sets. (plus 30+ tempest, mirage, and legends sets, and 10+ to 20+ of most other earlier sets).  While some of the sets are worth more...

Re: What other hobbies do you have?

I collect older baseball cards (pre-1986), but I'm thinking of selling most of what I have.  My pride and joy is a collection of oddball inserts that came with baseball cards from the 1960s. While I am killing the collection, I am a baseball fanatic and still play fantasy baseball with friends ...

Re: What is this?

A scary  thought.  If the product is legitimate, then maybe the legal printing plant is overproducing, and sending the illicit excess to another packaging facility.  That way they can get the extra profits.

Re: What is this?

Or maybe the counterfeiting plant, hearing that Wizards was bragging that the celophane wrap hadn't been counterfeited, decided that adding the wrap would be another way to con people. I haven't heard of phoney foils, and thought the counterfeit cards were different sizes than real magic cards (and ...
