It doesn't have much to do with math. The basic idea is supposed to be Tap: Deal 1 damage, and also that the equation kind of looks like it spells "Niv-Mizzet" when turned on its side. Please correct me if I am wrong, but didn't 'They' want the Unlimited cards to have a silver/grey border? It's not that it is square-cut per se - the sheet was actually folded over before the cards got cut. 'Square Cut' to me means a card that has a square corner. When the dag is folded back, the sides all line up - the machine that cuts these cards must be pretty phenomenal, ubersharp. So I guess this ...
