I was under the impression that the end of the Alpha print run had shrink-wrapped boxes, similar to the wrapping that Beta boxes had,
If anyone from the site wins, I'll be glad to go pick up the box! ::) ;D The seller is only a few hours from me.

Re: Advice needed (Ebay)
It might be too late now, but you can usually do a follow up to any feedback that is left (I think it is for up to 30 days after feedback is left). Nothing you can do will be worthwhile to take away the negative. My follow up would be to call him out for the fraud that he is, and to ask ...

Re: best card storage?
Ralph, That is exactly the problem that I had. I have seen some companies that have file folders specifically designed to hold binders sideways. They have attachments that clip on the binder, and each binder has a rod that allows it to hang freely. Similar systems are used by libra...

Re: best card storage?
I tried binders, and they are great for presentation. Unfortunately, I found the binder pages had a tendency to get marked by the binder rings. I actually had a mox (among others) get indented as a result. I now use boxes exclusively, with cards in individual sleeves. Its a little ...

Re: "Blue backed" (Cyan) Homelands cards
The early, mass-produced sets had this problem. I've seen them on Fallen Empires, and have many of them from Ice Age. The blueish tint seems to be more common on the front sides of the cards, so I have to assume that the quality control on the backs was better. There are a few who collec...

Re: U1s in AN, AQ, HL, FE, and TD
All the early packs are a bit transparent, so you can see what cards are in the pack. Many sellers search packs by carefully lifting cards one at a time within the pack. If not careful, however, you leave tell-tale marks (creases or or point indentations, depending upon your method of l...

Re: how many do you know in person?
I haven't yet met anyone from the forum in person. I know a decent number of players and collectors, a few with substantial collections, but most aren't interested in anything beyond the regular cards.

Re: general interest in new Magic sets
I don't play at all, so I'm definitely in the collector category. As such, I usually only collect sets that have rotated out of T2. Unfortunately, with so many things to collect and organize, for regular offerings I'm just getting up to 7th Edition and the Masque Block. At the rate...

Re: Magic neon sign on ebay.fr
I've seen weird magic items from trade show displays, but this looks more like the kind of sign that Wizards (or their agents) would send to a store that carries their products. Maybe something to put inside the front windows to attract customers. I would bid on it (for my game room), bu...

Re: who collects what?
I was wondering I am going to start on Unlimited very soon I already have 90% of the commons and a few other things. What advice can you give me on collecting this set? Much appreciated. Depending upon what condition cards are acceptable to you, I can probably help. I'm almost done with my pl...

Re: Tempest Wrappers
Good thing I wasn't around. If I had put in preemptive bids (you know the type ... just put in $200 and pray no one else does) I might have had a real wallet hangover when the dust cleared.

Re: Tempest Wrappers
Did all three auctions go that high? I thought that only one (Weatherlight?) went higher, and the other two ended up around $30.

Re: Tempest Wrappers
They show up here and other places (like eBay) from time to time. There were 6 to 10 ft lengths of three different series (I think they were tempest, stronghold, and weatherlight) on eBay about two months ago, and went for around $3 per foot. I was out of town or would have thrown in bid...

Re: 1998 World Championship Filler Card
The reason why the guy might be so tenacious is that he might have actually gotten the card out of a "sealed" deck. Of course, the card might still be a fraud. I've had corrospondence with a few players in Western Canada who have gotten "unusual" boosters and starters, including some with mult...
