I liked to build highlander decks when I was playing with my old play group. It was a good handicap to account for having a much larger collection. I made roughly 60 card decks, which doesn't seem to be the fashion these days. These are my two favorites:

Noble Benefactor
Ophidian
Propaganda
Spiny Starfish

Quirion Ranger

The Wretched

Arenson's Aura
Preacher

Breathstealer's Crypt
Dakkon Blackblade
Guiding Spirit
Hazerider Drake
Johan
Merieke Ri Berit
Nicol Bolas
Rubinia Soulsinger
Sol'kanar the Swamp King

Mountain Valley
Rocky Tar Pit
Sulfur Vent
Underground Sea
Urborg Volcano
Maze of Ith
Volrath's Stronghold
5 Island
3 Swamp
2 Plains
2 Forest
2 Mountain

basic utility deck - 5 color highlander

is highlander all 5 color? I've just been playing with the 1 card restriction. My play group has banned Library, jitte, stripmine, mind twist, sol ring, mana vault, mana crypt, and grim monolith.

my current build is:

1 snowcovered island
7 islands
4 swamps
1 dimir aqueduct
1 urborg, tomb of yawgmoth
1 tolaria west
1 mishra's factory
1 wasteland
1 volrath's stronghold
1 maze of ith

1 talisman of dominance
1 sword of fire and ice
1 vedalken shackles
1 sensei's divining top

1 demonic tutor
1 tainted pact
1 reanimate
1 rend flesh
1 chainer's edict
1 hideous laughter
1 honden of night's reach
1 last gasp
1 damnation
1 innocent blood

1 mana drain
1 mana leak
1 counterspell
1 force of will
1 forbid
1 capsize
1 brainstorm
1 fact or fiction
1 boomerang
1 honden of seeing winds
1 echoing truth

1 shadowmage infiltrator
1 dimir cutpurse
1 psychatog
1 drift of phantasms
1 morphling
1 man-o-war
1 keiga, the tide star
1 vesuvan shapeshifter
1 ophidian
1 meloku the clouded mirror
1 graveborn muse
1 kokusho, the evening star

Soon enough I'll have my deck/decks together for some Elder Dragon Highlander

I can't fully decide on a general, I'm thinking either Zur or Karn.
My gf Catherine is probably using Sliver Legion o___0

I don't think so, but I like it as a design restriction.

I play highlander with 150 cards. My deck needs an overhaul so I'll avoid making a list but its basically U/W with many wog varients, a lot of broken artifact mana, a lot of really expensive bombs (tidespout tyrant... good with all of the cantrips and capsize), most big giant white flyers, and a few efficient weenies + removal for the not dying.

I play by the T1 restriction list (no power, though I guess I could proxy it), and enjoy stroking myself for 15 all day.

I have this semi-highlander deck that I play in casual. It is easily my favorite deck in my collection.

Demonic Tutor
Mirri the Cursed
Ihsan's Shade
Darkness
Overwhelming Forces
Kagemaro, First to Suffer
Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed

Nalathni Dragon
Lu Bu, Master-at-Arms
Aladdin
Rolling Earthquake

Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir
Old Man of the Sea
Lu Xun, Scholar General
Mystical Teachings
Lu Meng, Wu General
Sun Quan, Lord of Wu
2x Force of Will
4x Propaganda

Sol'kanar, the Swamp King
Tibor and Lumia
Void
Terminate
Lord of Thresserhorn
Nebuchadnezzar
Skeleton Ship
Lim-Dul's Vault
Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind
Garza Zol, Plague Queen

Chaos Orb/Fork (depends on play group)
Sol Ring
Gilded Lotus

Dreadship Reef
Urborg
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
Volrath's Stronghold
Shinka, the Bloadsoaked Keep
Shizo, Death's Storehouse
Volcanic Island
Oboro, Palace in the Clouds
Minamo, School at Water's Edge
2x Steam Vents
2x Watery Grave
2x Molten Slagheap
2x Swamp
3x Mountain
4x Island

Nearly every card in the deck has a use and it's own personality. For example, the Propaganda's are all Chinese (Chinese Propaganda..., I think it's funny). I find it incredibly hard to add anything new. I like the deck so much, that once I got a second copy of Xiahou, the One-Eyed (cast Demonic Tutor getting the One-Eyed, play and sac One-Eyed to get Tutor, Tutor again for Volrath's Stronghold and you are now in the business of endless graveyard recursion), I made a copy of this deck that is highlander legal. The highlander deck is nearly identical, but expands to allow a lot more legends to join the fun.

I play highlander draft using my cube (approx 800-900 cards). Its pretty fun because the cards are all playable from alpha/beta all the way to TS block, and its always different!

Same thing here, with a "800-best-cards-ever" pool equally balanced between 5 colors and artifacts.
