"Ages" of Magic?

Post by Neuron » Fri Nov 13, 2015 10:15 pm

On this page, "prehistoric" and "middle ages" of Magic are mentioned. Is there an official definition of it?

What could be the criteria for the classification?

I have 6 ages of MTG regarding my collection. Usually they correspond to significant changes in the rules or card frames. I am sure this does not coincide with the Judges "eras".

Era (Core sets & Expansions)
1st (Legacy)
Alpha - Revised
Arabian Nights - Fallen Empires

2nd (Vintage)
Fourth - Fifth
Ice Age - Exodus

3rd (Classic)
Sixth - Seventh
Urza's Saga - Scourge

4th (Modern)
8th - 10th
Mirrodin - Eventide

5th (Mythic)
M10 - M14
Shards of Alara - Journey into Nyx

6th (Planeswalker)
M15 - Origins
Khans of Tarkir - Present
