square cut fallen empire cards?

Post by orkah » Thu Dec 29, 2005 2:57 am

hi guys,

i was wondering if someone could help me with this.

I have traded some fallen empire cards which all have square corners and normal MTG backs. The guy i traded them from claimed they all came out of the same booster packs. I know fallen empires is a set full of 'misprints' and miscut cards, but to be honnest my knowledge about the set is small. (in fact when it came out, i hated the set)
Does anyone have some more info on them?

thx

I have NEVER heard of square-cut FE, and I've heard of almost every other Fallen Empires misprinting, as well as a lot of different square-cut sets. Could be possible; could be a cut-up sheet.

hey guys,

i have some aditional info on the origin of the cards.
I contacted the guy i got them from, and it seems that he didn t pull them out of a booster like he told me when i traded them, but got them from his brother who worked at carta mundi at the time. Maybe the brother did some dumster diving or took some of the cards that were meant to be destroyed home (according to the guys his brother was fired some time later) 8)
I asked him if he did have an uncut sheet , but he claimes he never had one and never even has seen one.

i will let you know if i get some more info.

Yeah, we noticed. Are these really that exciting? Maybe you could PM him twice instead of posting twice?

There are definitely uncut sheets around. There was a set on eBay last summer that drew virtually no interest.

Thanks for the notice.

Looking at your other auctions begs the question -- How far did you get on your set of Summer cards?

i had about 1/2 of the commons
about 1/3 of the uncommons
and i had/have around 30-40 rares (including some nice ones).

I started with collecting the set in the days when i was still in secondary school (i think it is the same as high school in the USA) somewere in 1995-1996, but it was really difficult (not to say impossible) to find people who did have those cards and wanted to trade/sell them. When i went to university i did gave up magic and sold all of my alpha, beta, unlimited and summer cards (except for the rares). You must remember that this was before ebay was there. Now you just have to surf the web and you can find almost any card you want.
