Prerelease Lotus Bloom without date

When my friend Don showed me his "foil non-prerelease Lotus Bloom," it seemed a bit fishy. Under closer inspection:

It's in near mint condition by my inspection; you can ignore most of those specks in the large scan since they're just dirt on my scanner. He's taking offers by e-mail at ausmando@msu.edu and may sell it depending on the offer.

He's willing to send international and/or with insurance as long as you pay for it. If you want to pay by PayPal, I might need to help out with that, especially if you use a credit card.

Hey Guys,

I came across one of these at the GP in Dallas. I sold it for 100 dollars on site. I just thought you might want to know a price should another one come up. (It was actually a very quick sell, and in hindsight, I should have wanted more for it).

you can pull off the gold stamp by your self ... i don't see the difrences wetween the bloom without date and when you put it off.

because if they weren't printed with the date they don't have indentations or scratch marks like they would if u pulled off the gold.

Yvel,

I do not mean to be disrespectful when I ask you this; but could you please show us a scan of 10 cards you have done this to. I ask because if this is actually a reproducable effect, then all the misprint collectors on here should know, so that they do not end up paying too much for something like this. The one I saw in Dallas didn't show any signs of awkwardness to me, and the guy who bought it was convinced as well. I am only asking because I want to educate everyone.

Hi Yvel.
Please bring them to me,so I can have a close look at them.I do have few questions:
How did you erase the Gold stamp?Which kind of product?
Once you have erase them,do you still have the Print of the date,or just the Gold is gone away?
Do you have Real No Date Prerelease to compare them?
Did you scan your card 600 DPI,to check if the rubbing didn't leave any
marks?
To be honnest,I'm more than sceptical for the moment that Prerelease cards, could be altered without any notices. It could be interesting that this experiment be done by others Members,to check the different results.
Thanks for replies.

I too have seen these with the gold removed. I didn't think it was that big of a deal. I never asked how they did it. They would just say they removed it. Hmmm.

I'll try it with a spare Fungal Chambler when I'm at home. I hope it won't work :-(
Yvel, could you send instructions to me how to do it?
Chris

Hi Chris.
I really hope that Yvel will answer very soon as this,as it can be a Huge issue for Rarities Collectors 8-|
Are they some Members on this forum who have done that experiment and can talk about it?You can PM me if you want to remain anonymous,as I can understand that's not so easy to claim that you have done "Fake No Date Prerelease" ;-)

Dear members,
i can't destroy all my prerelease cards. I can't pull off the mark for each of my card. Without my personnal collection i don't have extra.

As i know for 3 of my prerelease cards the gold stamp is easy to erase.
I do it carfuly with my nail and a tissu.

I allready have the 2 "commons" prerelease cards missprint without date :
Laquatus's Champion
Beast of Burden

I can't see the differences between them.

I was interested by the lotus bloom and the new Oros, but when i see the condition of some of my cards ... It's not for me a realy missprint now.

Hi Yvel.
I gladly provide a bunch of Prerelease for that experiment whenever you want.By what I understand you erase the Gold Stamp, but with a Simple tissue and your nail, you manage to erase the Printing of the date???
I do own myself as well as some others Members a Great Collection of Misprint Prerelease without Date and also, without ink in the date, but on All of them, the printing of the date remains, and,I have checked that with others collectors. Also, using nails, should definately leaves marks on the card(I'm a big fan of the C.I.S.Show ;-) )
Please bring them to me on Saturday,so we can solve that issue, cause for me,taking the Gold away is not a problem, but to erase totally the printing of the date without any traces is impossible to my knowledge.
