Anyone has ever seen this kind of packaging??
And what clearly puzzles me is this comment from the seller: Not for Tournament. WTF???
Any clue anyone?
Thanks,
Eric.

Re: What is this?
I have absolutely no idea what it is, but I have to say the box looks cool ;D Perhaps some new free sampler packs?

Re: What is this?
We've had something similar to this show up in the past. I believe they are boxes sold in major retail stores like Wal-Mart or Target.
I don't have time to look for the past thread, but I know its out there somewhere.

Ok...I found it. This is similar, but the box looks a little different.

Re: What is this?
I agree. These do look very similiar. Erl00 has linked to a package of 8th Edition and FatKat has linked to a Scourge box.
But I agree with Erl00s comment, as to why would these not be tourney legal ??? That is interesting.
Maybe the makers of fake 8th and other sets are now making fake special boxes of cards? That is the only reason I can think of them not be legal.

Re: What is this?
Thanks for the input Bruce!
There are a couple of weird things about this auction anyway:
- The guy has a private low-score feedback (including 22 negs or neutral feedbacks since he registered)
- The cards are "not for tournament"
- The guy lives in Spain and advertise in English and German ...
As Silver.Paladin beyondly spoken, has anyone seen in which "box" the fake 8th and Mirrodin boosters are packaged??
Regards,
Eric.

Re: What is this?
I really can't see why someone would make up a fake box when it would be easier to use existing boxes or fake an existing box. I am a little confused that the box holds 15 packs vs. 12. Thanks for the input Bruce!

The idea of a smaller box with a smaller price seems like a great way to market towards multiple pack buyers who may not normally commit to a $130 retail priced normal box.
As far as the fake 8th cards, are they faking boosters or just individual cards. It seems it would be very expensive to fake the whole thing. (Cards, Wrappers, Boxes.)

Re: What is this?
As far as the not for Tournament use claim, I'd say tournament organizers use 36 pack boxes traditionally and these only have 15 packs.

Re: What is this?
This looks like more of a fake repack auction to me. Even though it has the WOTC logo, it looks like it could be home made...and it says "14 bag!" on the front. What the hell does that mean?
I bet it's repacks.

Let me get this straight. The above links basically repacks then resealed into old wrappers? That would cut the cost down, but in the case of the strange box, I still can't see where they would go through the expense of creating a nez box as opposed to using an old one.

No, no, no, the wrappers are really fake also!Eric,

They are shorter, the quality of imrpession is different, the crimping top and bottom is not the same. These are 100% certified fake packs, not just resealed wrappers :)
I still agree with you on the box.

Re: What is this?
I beleive you, but I can't see how faking packs and cards would be cost effective. Especially in America where I can get packs for around $2 each.

Because in Europe packs cost around $4.25 to $5.50?I beleive you, but I can't see how faking packs and cards would be cost effective. Especially in America where I can get packs for around $2 each.

Re: What is this?
I don't think I'd collect or play in Europe. That's way to expensive for cardboard crack. :P
