Value: 1996 PT Collector Set?

Hello all,

A friend of mine has got a 1996 Pro Tour Collector Set with the certificate intact and some white wear at the edges of the box.  I'm told the cards have only been played with once and then packed away.

Any opinions as to the value of this box set?  ???

I don't know what it is worth these days, but I do remember it costing almost $200 in a store here in sweden and that was 5 years ago or something...

Given that sealed ones go for $130-150, I would say $100 for an opened box with a bit of wear on the box.

Could be hard to sell though ...

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is a 1996 PT collector's set?  Is that the same as the international collector's edition set?

That's just my bad usage of short forms... sorry.

If my friend didn't have the set, I wouldn't know it even existed! It's (I believe) a collection of 8 preconstructed decks from the 1996 pro tour.

While they are pretty hard to find, they don't command much money (at least on eBay).  The last three opened sets I saw went for between $60 and $85, including shipping.

Even though I have collected all the Red and Land cards, this is one set that I never felt was a collectible item and have virtually forgotten its existance.  But now that it is being mentioned, I wonder if others get them or not.
And Squt, these are the gold front-edged cards that say world chamption or pro-tour or whatever on the back.

I do collect them.I have a Full Sealed Boxes Collection(8 to 12 Decks).From Pro-Tour 1996 to 2003.
