Whats with all the "Repack Auctions"

Post by Jakolanten » Sat Aug 21, 2004 7:38 pm

Hi everyone Im new and I didnt really know where to post this.

Anyway has anyone bid on any of these?

Something like this-

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 22055&rd=1

Would it be worth the money?

50% of search results for p9 brings up this stuff.

So anyone tried?

I've been tempted to bid on these, but it always seems like:

1.) it could be an outright scam - with 1000s of packs, and so many jerks who don't leave feedback, you can never prove if there ever was any P9 anyway, and...

2.) if they are legitimate, the chances of actually getting P9 are so low, and the seller is counting on everyone being willing to buy a lot of packs on the off chance of getting some, and.....

3.) any of the rares you get in your packs could most likely be had cheaper as singles.

On the other chance, those auctions where it's like "1 in 4 chance of Black Lotus" usually end up being a good deal (just win them all).  Just be careful that the seller can be trusted.

I give up on repacks.  Sellers will say anything and promise whatever you want to hear, then when you win they say "not everyone can win a mox".  Total bullshit.
I can't believe I ate the whole thing

Thanks it did look quite suspicious but very tempting at the same time!

I wonder if these people even have any p9 cards. I would love to see what they would do if someone bought all the packs. They would be forced to produce a black lotus from somewhere!

Well its more simple to just have a freind win one or two auctions. Then  he also could leave the feedback saying he got the Lotus.
And everybody thinks he is such a lucky guy.
With the money from there crap cards, both go to the next store and get themselfs EACH a Lotus.
EDIT: Stay away from repack

I won a Beta Block Lotus in a repack once. I bought 33 packs at $3 each. This was about 3 years ago.

Feel free to hate me.

Overall, these repacks are garbage. When I won the Lotus, it, given the time & condition, was worth about $400. I did pretty well. I have spent enough on repacks to know that for the most part they are a scam.

When I bid (& won), the person doing it was rerunning an auction in which he claimed there were a good 40 key cards, & had the ones won in the first batch crossed off. Low & behold, I found all of these crossed off cards mentioned in their feedback... anyways, this person seemed honest. They were. Some are out there, most are not.
