Hobby Japan is gone

Post by EvilBernd » Sun Jan 02, 2005 11:20 pm

Hi there

I am not able to speak japanese even if my life would depend on it, but the there is something going on:

http://www.hobbyjapan.co.jp/magic/

links to

http://mtg.takaratoys.co.jp/

and there is some nice picture of Betrayers.

But whats more important is probably the future role of Hobby Japan and this Takaratoys.

Anyone got a clue??

Here's a Google translation: http://google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2 ... en&ie=UTF8

Looks like something to the effect of 'thanks to all our regular customers for their patronage', then something about an event (tournament? an unexpected happening?).  I think that the Takara Toys people may be taking over the Hobby Japan magic business?

This makes sense to me.  Supposedly Hobby Japan had produced their last *promo* item a few weeks ago and would no longer be in the business of creating special promos.
Whether this means that WotC is going to start doing the JJS promo cards, as well as other items, I do not know.  Only know that Hobby Japan will no longer be doing them.
Oct 30, away until further notice

Hobby Japan closed the agency of MTG in Japan on 2004/12/31, and
Takara started it 2005/1/1.

Because of this, Hobby Japan stopped all supporting things
(tournament, FNM, JSS, and items(life counter, deck case, binders,..)).

But the supporting system for MTG of TAKARA is not fully ready, so
JSS tournament (for new promo;Assassin and Slith) has not hold since last December.

So I can't get new JSS Japanese promos for members (even for myself!) [smiley=mad.gif]

In Japan, Hobby Japan was the agency of MTG and TAKARA was the agency of Duel Masters.
And, Hasbro and TAKARA had been connecting comprehensive business partnership.

So, I guess Hasbro would decided to unify their Japanese TCG agency.

Please do :)

I wasn't sure if you were still looking for more for me, or if you'd just forgotten. Thanks.

Now, the new mystery is that, "Where is the Shichifukujin Dragon gone?"

To:Ralph

The link to 'Hobby Japan' should be changed to 'TAKARA' on Link Page.

Thanks,
