Summer Magic in Inquest
This mounths Inquest has a feature on Summer Magic, and this is what they have to say:
"SUMMER FLING"
-Magic's ultimate collectable haeded to auction-
Thought the auction for the Arabian Nights case for $95,00 as gen con was amazing? There's another magic collectable set to bring in more than $2000 per booster pack! Its Summer Magic - misprinted revisedcards considered to be among magic's rarest collectables.
The result of a printers error that caused the famous blue hurricane and acrds to dark to ship to retailers, summer magic cards were marked for destruction in 1994. A few survived the shredders, however including a collection of 30 boosters that surfaced last summer. Eight of these were released to the collectors market in 2003 and fetched as much as $2000 a pack. One of the lucky buyers pulled the blue hurricane, currently valued at about $6000
Wanna get into the maddnes? A few more packs will be auctioned this month on (trolland toad), with plans to sell the remaindedof the collection at a game convertion auction this summer.
Here's how to identify Summer magic packs are authentic. The packs are unopened Revised boosters with a 1994 copyright, but they are marked with a hand written "E" in green ink. "E" stood for Edgar - WOTC internal nickname for the print run. Boosters were marked 'E' to identify them for destruction."
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
Thats all they said but there is also a section on PSA graded cards aswell!

How many people do you think are on their way to the store to buy a green pen?

Re: Summer Magic in Inquest
I think I remember Eric saying Troll and Toad put the 'E' on the pack for their store to identify them?
That's funny! Â I know Eric has one with an E on it I believe in his booster collection.
Anything designated to be destroyed would have been labeled on the case or box. Â You'd have to be a moron to unwrap each case/box and label each pack seperately for destruction. Â That's only common sense. Â :-*

Re: Summer Magic in Inquest
The "E" has been put on the boosters subsequently by private hands. Summer Edition boosters look like regular Revised Edition boosters.
Re: Summer Magic in Inquest
No doubt they told people that PSA graded cards have the number of their grading written on the card. So you know a Black Lotus is gem mint if it has a big 10 written on it. Probably in green ink. ::)Thats all they said but there is also a section on PSA graded cards aswell!

Oct 30, away until further notice
Re: Summer Magic in Inquest
written on the card itself. ??? ??? that would ruin the rating they put them in protectors and the rating is put on the protectors not the card.

Hi Michael, can we get a scan of erics pack please i'd like to see it to compare if i ever came across one

Including the summer pack:

(You'll have to cut and paste this link)
Has Inquest really written all this piece of crap and wrong information????
- Blue Hurricane valued at $6,000 -> I think the last one on eBay hardly sold for more than $2,000
- "fetched as much as $2000 a pack" -> Some packs have been sold for much more than that
- " One of the lucky buyers pulled the blue hurricane" -> WRONG, WRONG and WRONG. The shop who acquired the 8 packs opened two of them to proove they were summer pack to potential acquirers. THEY pulled out the Hurricane (easy when you read further point) and resold it in the same auction they sold their remaining three packs.
- "Here's how to identify Summer magic packs are authentic. The packs are unopened Revised boosters with a 1994 copyright, but they are marked with a hand written "E" in green ink" -> :o what a scientific method!
This really sucks that one of the most famous mag for MtG allow such nonsense to be released.
Summer packs are strictly identical to Revised pack. No bit "E" on them. The only way to know you're in front of a Summer pack instead of a Revised one is to screen the pack.
One "private collector" (I suspect a former WotC employee) sold last year to a shop (not T&T) 8 summer packs on which HE had put a big "E" in order not to make any confusion with normal Revised packs.
But most of the Summer packs that have been opened and even two packs I know in private collection do not have any big "E".
Pfff ... Anyone knows how to send a hate mail to Inquest??
>:(
Eric.
Please help me finish my Boosters collection
Re: Summer Magic in Inquest
I know. It was a joke. ;) Y'see, they were wrong about the Summer Magic stuff, so presumably they would be wrong about the PSA stuff too...written on the card itself. Â Â ??? ??? Â that would ruin the rating they put them in protectors and the rating is put on the protectors not the card. Â
