I'm sorry, but this story sounds slightly retarded.  Why would he spend that much money on something his granddaughter probably wouldn't have an interest in.  

The people in North Carolina must be more messed up than the Netherlandians (see Axios) or the French (see Dragsamou).

I too think the idea of 'Southern Belles' is something to sit back and enjoy.  Have had a few belles from down South there visit up here in Canada, and never had a problem yet in admiring them - looks, accents, politeness and all.   What a great package deal.

I lived down south in Ga. for 3 years and you know what if I had been there before I ever got married I wouldn't have southern bells are far more better than the woman here up north.

The ones up north aren't bad, you just have to look a little harder to find the good ones.  (I have to speak nicely since my wife is of the northern variety.)
