Magic Library Holiday Gift Exchange - Beta Edition

Post by ANALOG_KID » Sat Oct 15, 2005 4:30 am

Greetings all!
Welcome to the Beta Edition of the Magic Library Holiday Gift Exchange.
I’m Analog_Kid. My wife MoonSprite and I have volunteered to coordinate things this year.
We have a few guidelines and suggestions that we'd like to go over, to get things started.

There is an arbitrary price limit of about $25 US. (shipping costs not included)

All members are eligible to participate.

From now until 4pm (California time) November 6, 2005 we will be taking “sign-ups."

We would request you send via PM to either of our mailboxes the following information:
Name
Mailing Address (or address you would like items shipped to)
an email address (other than M.L.) you may be contacted at
and (optional, but recommended) a “wishlist.â€￾ (try to keep it under 25 items. )
We will also need to know if you are willing/ able to ship internationally.

Your information (excluding your email) will be provided ONLY to the person who draws your name.

Confirmed participants will have their Library names listed at the bottom of this first post once we have recieved their information.

Names will be drawn from the “Magic hatâ€￾ and participants notified (via PM or email) during the week of Nov. 1st - 6th.

Due to a usually higher amount of postal workload, we are requesting that persons shipping internationally (overseas) have their items shipped no later than Nov. 28, 2005.
Those with domestic shipping should ship by Dec. 8, 2005. This is so the items can hopefully arrive “on time.â€￾
We would like members to notify us when they ship gifts AND when they receive them.

Here are some suggestions maximize the experience for the community.

1) Research your recipient. :-k Spend some time reading through their posts
to try to discover what they collect. Part of the fun is in getting to know
people and trying to please them. (You're recipients wishlist will be provided on request, if they supplied one.)

2) If you can't find something that you know is on their wishlist, try to find
interesting, oddball things that they may not have seen. Customizing a card(s) is an idea for those rich in creativity but poor in pocketbook.
The goal should be creativity rather than bottom line eBay value.

3) The gifts should not be given anonymously, we are trying to make friends.
You may publicly post that you recieved (please wait until after Dec. 19, 2005 to post) and if you like, WHAT you recieved if you are thrilled so the person responsible will know.
Please DO NOT publicly post WHO sent your gift and you should ALWAYS privately acknowledge a gift.

4) $25.00 is the suggested value for gifts but please give whatever you want to give and think is appropriate for the magic rarities community.
If you are thinking of sending standard commons or would be upset if that is what you recieved, it might better if you didn't participate.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us. We will do our best to answer and assist you.
Best wishes to all and have a wonderful day!
Analog & MoonSprite

Hello all,

Due to unfortunate circumstances and resulting commitments, we are extending the signing up period for the holiday gift exchange to 4pm (California time) November 6, 2005.
(This will give you procrastinators an extra week to put things off. )

Names will drawn that evening and individuals will be notifed within a day or two of that.

Still plenty of names we'd like to see on the confirmed list, including yours.
Step on up, join in the fun! :D

If you have any questions about the gift exchange, please contact us.

Have a wonderful day!
MoonSprite

Unless I'm mistaken, I do believe I've recieved my gift. Pretty early, too - Nov 28!

Anyway, I'm not gonna open it until Christmas day :)

MoonSprite (aka Mrs. A.K.) informed me that today I rec'd something in the mail from one of the confirmed participants. She promptly placed it in an undisclosed location and installed security measures. (She hid it.)
She has steadfastly refused to tell me anything about it. No name, international or domestic, box, letter, paper, plastic, parcel, thick, thin, light, square, round, wrapped, plain,....... nothing! =;
I think I know where it's stashed, but she has provided sufficient threats to deter my curiosity.
I'll happily wait 'til the 25th. ;D

In the meanwhile, to whoever sent it, thank you, it arrived. :D

Just got mine today - some fun stuff. Empty wrappers from Arabian Nights, Antiquities, Legends and The Dark. 2 Presence of the Masters in absolutely beautiful condition, a crimped German 8th Edition Seismic Assault, a German Manabarbs/Sedge Troll, and 2 CoK commons with inking problems - the top half of the cards are very yellow (they also look like they were next to each other on the sheet).

Plus, I got an awesome opening hand:

2 German Forests (w/ picture of Plains)
2 Orcish Lumberjack
2 Tinder Wall
1 German Autumn Willow (in pristine condition)

Thank you Santa.

Stuart
Always looking for:
Legends Presence of the Master (English or Italian)
Dark Sorrow's Path (English or Italian)
Non-English Contract From Below.

Hmmm. I got an unexpected package from troll and toad. Whether or not it has anything to do with this gift exchange is something I guess I'll learn on Christmas day :)
