Some nice original art on the Bay

This seller has Demonic Hordes, Jihad, Verduran Enchantress, Hecatomb, Soul Net, and Hurkyl's Recall, all original arts, for sale. High prices, yes, but that's some pretty nice stuff there.

I saw these, and was nearly interested until I saw the prices.

I would love to get the Verduran Enchantress to go along with my collection of them, but those prices are way too high for my blood. Hope someone else here gets it and enjoys it!

Anybody notice the original art for Hecatomb was alot more provocative than the card:

I really want the Recall!!

But then you never know.. he might have just slipped a print inside the frame and you'd never be the wiser until you got the goods.

In the auction description, the seller mentioned that MTG toned down the explicitness of the art :-k

I would agree. There are too many differences. More than mere "touch up" work.

Speaking of original art, where did the artwork for your avatar come from Alexis?

I have some Scott Fischer stuff that's "radically" different than the cards. I dunno if they had any programs to alter stuff when Ice Age came out. I'd bet it's the same piece though.

How radically different? Do you have scans? Some of the alterations between the 2 hecatombs make seem that if it IS an alteration of the original, it's so much of one that it's almost completely new. For example the all the hair, and the antlers from her helmet would have had to been completely redone.

They were still kinda small in the art department when that Ice Age art was selected... Could always ask the artist... I don't know NeNe, if anybody has coresponed with her they could ask;-)
