Huh, certainly interesting to see Richard Garfield sign "unofficial" (or should I say not-to-be-officially-released) material ?!?!
The version I knew was that WOTC actually denied or refused to comment on the existence of Edgar, and just recently relegated it to Arcana.

I have seen or heard of at least a half-dozen other Garfield-signed Summer cards; he is most definitely aware of them.

Nor is there any particular reason why he wouldn't sign them. He isn't WotC and hasn't had a hand in the creation/production of Magic in years. In short, he doesn't care it is Summer or not. He may not even know how to tell the difference.
With that said, I used to have an Unlimited Serra Angel he nicely changed to be a 7/7 first strike. LOL.
