Who would have ever thought, in the day, that someone letting the ink run out would result in possibly that much cash.

Where ever these were printed it is certain that the trash collector did not do his job. Wonder if he was getting paid on the side.

I think cheap, isn't it? I count 50 real albinos, this would be $80 each.

I would be interested in a handful (no playables). Any interestees for a group purchase?

I've seen some discussion about these from people who refused to buy them at shows. Maybe some sunfaded cards in that bunch, and having some there casts doubt on the whole pile.

Yeah, of course one should be critical about color errors, especially those cyan only. But I don't think it's possible to make them artificially cyanless. Overall, that lot seems authentic to me, it shows how slowly the ink ran out and the cards seem to be in good shape.
However, I don't know what people refused them, if it were the misprint experts here, I would abandon it, too.

Point, is that so called experts saw them in real and didn't invest, this lot has been offered for real long time now. Pics are also not of good quality, and it's a 4K auction, the amount of 198 cards is really high, it's more than All the Albinos offered in the last 20 years on Ebay and else. To finish, Albino are between 100/200+$ now, so 4k seems really cheap.

Did you contact the seller to get as many info possible about those, to hear what he has to say about this:
"They all came into my collection at the same time, in Ice Age tournament deck boxes, so most likely they were all packaged this way together."

Ice Age starter deck contains 60 random cards per deck and an Ice Age rule book. The distribution is 3 rares, 9 uncommons, 26 commons, and 22 lands.

Here is where historical information about the printing process would be a lot of help.

Were there 4 presses going at the same time? (Rare, Uncommon, common, land) might have been possible ?
But how do we get two presses running out of ink at the same time-Unc, com,?
That is assuming simultaneous printing of all cards on separate presses.
If the sheets were run seperately on the same press we have to get the uninked cards onto the assembly line at the same time from two different runs.
Either way they have to get past quality control as a block to be packaged together

Even knowing how the process worked for sure would make this a very difficult picture to put together.

I have my doubts.

Some tests to catch fakes:


The sun itself does not seem to fully remove blue. There are often slight hints at red as well... Looking at the card with a loupe can show signs of where ink used to be, and has faded. (citation of one anwer)

Additionally:

Test whether that set is put together:

Look for centering
Look for dot on the back


Quantity alone cannot prove anything. As albino is a full sheet error [corrected: partial to full sheet], there should always appear more at once, as it occured to miscuts and double prints in the past. Just a single one should raise suspicion. And Ice Age common albinos are already known to exist.

Rarity: Printing plates have to be mounted on the press. If the cards were printed all on the same press subsequently, I don't think there was't a quick check before continuing. If printed on different ones at once, low probability for multiple ink ran outs at the same time.

The seller admitted that he traded for them just one year ago. So, there is no guantee that not more cards belonged to this lot, of either rarity.

When the ink first runs out, you could have a partial albino sheet. (like the ink ran out half way down the sheet) It would be followed by full albino sheets until the error is caught and ink refilled.

I have seen some partial albino cards.

Thanks for reminding. Of course that's correct, at least it's not probable to have just two or three at a time, that I wanted to point out.
