Empty Sealed Fallen Empires booster pack

Post by dragsamou » Mon Jun 06, 2016 4:50 pm

Hi Members

This one is quite interesting.
Back in the day, imagine my dismay to pull this pack out of my newly purchased booster box ... and having that dismay further compounded by the overall relative crappiness that was Fallen Empires ... However, I held onto it and now I'm able to offer something that's in all likelihood rarer than even Summer Magic/Edgar cards to you!

You are bidding on the rarest of rare "misprints" - a factory sealed/never opened Fallen Empires booster pack that was "packed" with no cards in it!

Never heard of anything like that before, maybe it was from the beginning of a run when they were warming the sealing machines up.

I wonder how easy it would be to fake something similar...I guess if there was a way to do it then eBay would be full of cheap boosters that were really resealed repacks full of junk cards.

I wonder if I gently heated a booster it would come apart.

Hi Mark

I do own Misprint sealed boosters with 3 cards, 7 cards, etc...Coming from a full box 4th Edition French, first time also I see an empty sealed booster. I have no idea if it's possible to open the top or down of the booster, empty the 8 cards, then resealed it perfectly.

I guess it would depend on how it is sealed.

If it is heat sealed then heating it up might soften the glue enough to pull the booster open without tearing it. Reheating would soften the glue up enough to make it stick again.

I found an old thread on it and it is surprising how many people have done this...

Opening is the easy part apparently by inserting a pin in the opening of the booster end seal and moving it along (will give this a try!) Or running a hot iron over the booster (I did this with an Australian banknote once, it melted).

It is the sticking it back together again that is the tricky bit.

According to different sources, quite a bunch of empty Fallen Empires booster were discovered back in the years, of course back then, they were sent back to WOTC for replacement. Overfilled (12/13 cards) and underfilled (3/4 cards) exist also. From previous threads, some of Revised, The Dark, etc...are also in existence. I try to find out in which precised material old Vintage booster were made of.

Opening a booster perfectly should be indeed the easy part, just take time and concentration, I presume.

Empty the booster is the easiest.

Then the reseal part, to match exactly the same pattern, that's another story.

Someone mentioned that a Crimper Hand Sealer could be used but it doesn't match at all the pattern of the sealed part:

Something like this will do a better job, I believe:

I don't know what an iron will do on an old booster, if you try, let us know.
