Artwork that "goes together"

Post by fvzappa » Sun Nov 09, 2003 4:08 pm

Okay, in the off topic area, pronunciation & spelling have been posted lately, which both are kind of an issue for me (even though I've not always been correct). I'm glad to see it brought up.

One other "issue" I have is seeming to be the only one- locally- that knows that some artwork is a continuation on one or more cards. For instance, the Ice Age Plains all make one long picture. Guardian Angel is shooting Paralyse to make one picture, Trade Caravan a & b connect, etc. There's a bunch! My personal favorite is Mox Jet & Forcefield- Forcefield must be turned sideways to connect. This one surprises many. The person appears to be "pushing" on the Jet.

I know several, but it is 3 am... I'm drawing a blank I'm sure there are plenty I don't know, too. So, what other ones are there?

A few different runs of Arena lands all connect.

Hrm... I too, 'remember' a lot more than have been said so far, but I cannot recall any.

Actually, this is something of a Magic urban legend. Anson Maddocks didn't intend for them to "line-up" - it was purely a coincidence.

Some more connected pictures for your list:
Anaba Shaman
Dark Maze
Dwarven Trader
Stronghold Machinist / Stronghold Biologist

Wow, seems odd that those two pieces don't intentionally go together. I have cut up 2 Beta ones & lined them up well. I guess I'll have to look into that story....

They don't exactly "go together", but Word of Command and the original Howling Mine are the same piece of artwork.

Something new to add to the list:

"When you line up the [adam rex's] art from Nim Lasher, Nim Shrieker, Nim Devourer, and Nim Shambler, you can see that they form one large mural."

Its not just 2 of the Saga plains - its all 4.  There are also 2 artifacts in Urza's Block that line up, but I forget which - they are two halves of a round table.

Also, its not just the 4 Ice age plains - the snow covered one fits in, too.

Of course there is the COK lands.  Those are great.  If you got the original art, would it be in sections or all one?  What a nice piece to put over my couch.

EDIT: I am interested in if the artist seperates the art if it is used for multipul pieces.  Does anyone know this?

Such as the Saga Plains, as talked about earlier, I wonder if it is still in one piece.  I have looked on their sites, however, I have not seen those originals up for sale yet.  Any thoughts?

Again.. two different artists.. Wizards put them together with photoshop or something similar.

Only 2 Saga Plains fit together.. all 4 are the same artist, but only 2 fit.

And 4 Ice Age Plains includes the Snow-Covered one.. there are only 3 others.
