No, I don't play SoA because I don't like it. I'm waiting for Conflux / the new block.

Are you playing Shards of Alara ?

Post by magic-belgium » Sat Dec 06, 2008 5:12 pm

It's been a long time since we last had a poll here.

Here is the question : Are you or are you not playing SoA ?

Some say that SoA is a flop when the guys who actually play it, love it as a "limited" expansion, and say it is not worth the constructed games.

What is your opinion ?

Nice set to draft, try to draft once a week in a local pub or at my boat. Don't draft online. Will be playing a 2HG shards of alara tomorrow, don't know what to expect from that.

I think a 2HG would be really interesting. Wonder how Lich’s Mirror would work.

I didn't do any reading ahead before the pre-release and I drafted red. BIG mistake. Red is really wimpy (which some reviews had mentioned as I found out later). I later drafted a Quietus Spike and two Shore Snappers. Everyone I played against was playing blue and every time I drew the spike—I won.

So, just draft a spike…….

I love Shards.
All the formats I play, Shards has contributed to in a good way.

Vintage - Um, TEZZERET.
Legacy - Elspeth for Stax, Tezzeret for Stax/Painter
Extended - Tezzeret yet again, Elvish Visionary
EDH - A LOT of cards are powerful, here, Tezzeret being the strongest.
Peasant - Elvish Visionary

So basically, they could have printed a one card set, with Tezzeret being 1/1 and I would have been completely happy.
