New Rarities : 8th Edition Alternate Face FOIL Test Prints

Post by wizard1 » Sun Dec 09, 2007 3:34 pm

Hi all I am having such a blast at Worlds, I have met a lot of cool people and seen a lot of crazy stuff. In the process I have discovered and aquired 3 new rarities (which brings to light 300+ more new rarities).

They are..... ALTERNATE Frame 8th Edition Test prints. According to the source they printed 3 of each card (non-foil and 2 different foil versions) of the entire 8th Edition set. All I can say right now is that they are BEAUTIFUL and I wished that Wizards had chosen these ones instead of the current ones.

The ones that I have aquired are the following and will be posted once I get back to Toronto either tonight or tomorrow morning!

Adakar Wastes FOIL
Both Versions of Giant Growth FOIL

STAY TUNED!

Just wondering, how much do you pay for them? Hell I'm interested in them! I'm interested in picking up a card for collection purposes? So at the moment 3 of ech card exists? Or are there more per card?

Audric

what is the difference between the two Giant growths?

Edit: Got it ;)
First one isn't full foil especially on the textbox?

I like the P/T box on the bottom right of the giant growths!

Maybe they just wanted to show where an expansion symbol WOULD go, but didn't have a symbol for this "test" so just used a previous edition that would also signal "not exactly legal" and chose unglued.

Note too, that the symbol doesn't change colors, Adarkar Wastes is labeled as a common...

I wish I could have gotten more but they were expensive and most of the rest of this print run is owned as a private set collection. As per others there was 2 foil island from the same test print run that also found new owners (2 dealers) during worlds. I had the choice between getting the island (which had the picture as Parallax Tide) or the Adakar Wastes, and as you can tell I chose the Wastes.

Also as per the expansion symbol/rarity designations all of these test prints just had the generic black egg symbol no matter their rarity.

Berkumps: Good luck on ever seeing any more of these. B/c nearly all the rest of them are in the hands of 1 private collector and im damn sure that he/she wont be willing to break the set that they currently own.

Magik321: Lets say I paid a lot for them but in retrospect its a good investment because I now own 33% of the Adakar Wastes print run and 66% of the Giant Growth Print run. Yes only 3 versions of each card was ever produced.

I was there when he bought these.
There was also a Island with the picture of parallax tide and the artist name was "Artist Name". All of them as 000/000 as the card number.
First one isn't full foil especially on the textbox?
It's kinda like the old foils, where the picture and textbox isnt foil, whereas the 2nd one is more like timeshift foil.
