Proposal?

Post by Tha_Gunslinga » Wed Oct 03, 2007 2:54 pm

An auction on eBay for all the Magic cards as jpeg files included this picture of Proposal:

Is this legit, or is it one of the fake pictures?

On the "Magic Art and Artists" section from Magicthegathering.vom 's forum i asked Quinton Hoover :
Dear Quint,
will you tell us, or best, will you show us the art or a scan of your most mistorious card : proposal
Best regards
I would if I could, but can't at Richard's request.
A quick Google search described, but did not show as per the request, the art:
A guy in vaguely Renaissance-like clothing (Richard) on bended knee.
See, see, SEE?! Internet gods hate me. Oh, I get notice when Pete gets a new message, but my little spot here remains a cypher, and I have to wander in to see if anyone's posting. Another reason for my silences: as far as I know no one is talking.

That's a basic but essentially close description. There's really not a lot to it, and I'd never met Richard at that point and only had bad photos to work from. Barely looks like him. Can't say for sure on Lily since I've still not met her.

Hi.
I believe the only one who can solve that problem is Richard Garfield,as I have tortured Quinton for many years about it,well didn't I want
to try to talk to Mister Garfield in private

That art is from Hildebrandt Brothers. Richard told Quinton that he could show the card at cons that he was at and when he was in Japan a couple years back for a Wizards event someone stole the card. I proceeded to talk to Richard about the card and Richard had both the art and the card reproduced and sent to Quinton. And now Quinton said that he is keeping it at home were it will not get stolen. How do I know this? Because I see Quinton at least every couple of years and I asked him on Saturday in his hotel room in St Louis about why he did not bring the card. I wish I could find out who took the card and I will beat him or her up for screwing with Quinton.

I'm not claiming mine to be real. I mean it could be, but I doubt it, as it was traded to me in a power trade long ago before I sold my collection. It's glued and/or sticker backed to some card. I never tried to peel it or anything. Besides if it's just a sticker on a card or glued to a card, it can't be worth anything.

The infamous Quenton Heever Proposal mockup originates from Bob. Bob liked to honor the April fool's tradition, and on one April the first he created that card image and offered it on ebay as a real card, claiming he had traded the card from some guy in Japan. He set to reserve to $ 1,000,000 US to be sure nobody would be able to buy it. The typo of "Heever" instead of "Hoover" was intentional and part of the joke.
