How do you catalog your collection(s)?

I started this local 'League' in Columbia, SC slightly over a year ago - as many of my friends were talking about restarting the hobby.

To make it seem more official and to help organize game nights I made a web site on Wordpress. Learned a bunch in the process, ha!

The group is going well, a decent break over the holidays should re-ignite this next Thursday to celebrate the new edition. (Besieged).

Columbia now has a dedicated magic store (something lacking for many years) but I do enjoy having lots of friends over to my house... as it's comfortable, you can enjoy a glass of wine... and in a strange way it facilitates good behavior. Well.. sometimes!

Would love to see you organization structure... and will share my home made checklists on a post soon.

As I only collect 1 set, a simple Excel sheet works just fine.

Now for storing the darn things, I prefer this lil beauty with an empty weight of just over 1100 pounds

Well, mine used to be for my guns but now some of my cards are worth more than some of my Lugers (However, my MP-40 has a different kind of value). But it is OK, they are properly trained and have learned to "share".

to be honest I once had friends that wanted to give a old Safe away, but I did not know how to get 1.3t in my basement. but I do not have to much stuff mistprints DDT Shivans I gave away all my sets a while back as its just to much space, I prefer to find rather to keep :)

I don't fear my cards to be stolen, but i always think about fire/water damage. And I don't know what to do :-/

In a funny way, the gun safe industry might have help for you.

At a basic outdoor store here in the US (Where they sell safes) they also sell bags of silicon which absorb moisture out of the air. They cost about $30 and are designed to keep an enclosed area dry for 6 months.

I do not think they would help a whole room, but certainly a closet.

Silicon might be found in large quantities and simply put into a breathable bag.

I have a lot of concern about fire and water too. I live in a single family wood frame house and if a fire broke out it would be a disaster. My really good stuff I keep in a bank safety deposit box (of course that costs $) but the gun safe does give me a degree of comfort as it is insulated and provides some fire/water protection and being bolted to a concrete floor (though not as heavy as Tap4Black's) I'm comfortable it isn't going anywhere easily.

Short of tearing out a wall in my house, that thing is not going anywhere soon. The 1200 degree fire rating for 45 minutes should be more than enough protection short of someone dropping napalm on that part of the house.

I have the added benefit of living in a small community with a few retired couples in my culdesac that watch everything quite well. I supply them with fresh crab and salmon when it's in season and they provide added sets of eyes above and beyond the homes security system
