Booster Wrapper Identification

So I have been slowly scanning the boosters and writing down all the identifying features I can find and noticed a code on the modern boosters

Image

969041050 15096904105001 SP = Spanish Champions of Kamigawa Myojin of Infinite Rage Wrapper
969041900 15096904190004 PT = Portuguese Champions of Kamigawa Myojin of Life's Web Wrapper
150A3309103005 IT A33091030 = Italian Theros Arena Champion Wrapper
15020542190002 PT 205421900 = Portuguese Lorwyn Goldmeadow Stalwart wrapper

From what I can work out the smaller 9 digit numbers could be the set code.

In the longer number the 150 prefix could be the product type e.g. 150 means it is a booster.
Followed by the 9 digit set code specific to the language
Followed by the 2 digit wrapper identifying number 01 - 05
Followed by the 2 letter Language code SP, PT, IT etc. CT is Traditional Chinese

Not sure how this helps the company but If I had any of their other products I could probably confirm some of the unknowns such as what the leading 150 means and why they have 01-05 instead of 1-5 for the wrappers unless they are expecting to do more than 5 wrappers at some stage.

It also looks like the style has changed a bit, maybe evolved with time but it still looks like it has all the same components just in a different order.

Not sure why they need to repeat the 9 digit code either.

Anyway, I have been recording the 9 digit number as an identifier, I am not sure whether the 2 digit booster number is in alphabetical order according the the art or the artist but if it is the art then it will match my current system at least!

They've been using this format of code for a long time. I've been tracking them myself, and can confirm that your analysis of the parts of the code is correct. Everything has a code: packs, boxes, other printed materials like rules inserts even have them.

The only thing I can add is that in the case of booster packs the 01-05 are usually numbered in order of the color of mana represented by the character on the front, so 01 - White, 02 - Blue, 03 - Black, 04 - Red, 05 - Green, If there are less than 5 different booster arts, the rule still holds, but renumbered appropriately

Thank you!

I couldn't work out the scheme for the Booster order but I have only just started recording them so really don't have many to go on!.

Now I will go back and record all the ones I missed!

Cheers
Mark

Thanks!

I will go back over the boosters I have already scanned, fortunately not too many of them so far. At least I don't have to go back too far but the two letter country codes are going to be a real help when asking for specific boosters.
