Post by bob_loblaw » Wed Apr 02, 2014 4:15 pm

Thanks to everyone who contacted me about these cards. As of now they are sold pending final payment and delivery. Everything but the Crusade and Earthquake went in a single lot. If anything changes I will repost.

Thanks

Ben

They look like nice cards so you should get some good offers.

I haven't got any of the Power 9 so I might see if I can dig down the back of the sofa and get some spare change.

Same here, I didn't get a email about this one and it wasn't orange the last time I was on..

In any case, Awesome. Best of luck in the sale and don't take the first offer on any of them.

Thanks for the positive responses guys! Based on the responses both from interested parties and forum members I think this is going to be a success!

A little clarification about the selling process so you guys can follow along. A new card will be put up every week or so. That card will have its own thread and an initial asking price posted by me. At the end of the week I will accept the highest offer on the card. If unsold the card will be taken down and sold to a dealer. We are starting at the bottom with the smaller cards and working up to the big boys.

Also, a reminder that I will post final sale price for EVERY card. After the price I will list whether the buyer was a Retail Dealer or Personal Buyer. I will not post any further identifying details such as forum name or anything.

Any other input or ideas would be great and please guys if you know anyone who is putting together a graded set, or wants to, or simply wants some very high end stuff spread the word! Recall my thought process is as follows. If the dealer wants to pay $50 and charge you $100 I am looking for $75ish. In theory everyone wins! :)

Cheers!

Ben

Usualy, it s not working with a same ratio for every cards.
Depending on the cards, the ratio vary from 1.2 to 3.
Most of the time, when the card worth very low value (less than 1 USD) you get a high ratio.
For exemple, the dealer buy an unlimited fog in played condition for 0.05 USD and sell it for 0.15 USD ... ratio is 3
But for the nm alpha black lotus, they will offer 5000 USD and sell it 6500 or 7000 USD, ratio is 1.3-1.4.
However, i don t see why you should not take the best offer... even if the buyer offer a ratio of 2 when the dealer sell it in his store for lower.
Sometime, dealer sell the stuff under the market price because they sell so many stuff that they didn t see the price changed.
And also, sometime, you think you have paid more than the market price and 2 month later, it s half the maket price ...
I think the price are a little bit like the game : magic :-O
As long as you are happy to buy the card, it s a good deal :-D

I collect old MTG cards.

I am interested, looks like I will be waiting until the end of the year before I start buying which is great because I can start saving now.

Will this be like a blind auction where everyone puts in a sealed bid and then you open them all up at the end, or will you be posting the highest offer as you go along?

In which case it will become an auction anyway :)

Good question. Hmmmm guess the best answer is I will update the thread as much as I can. I am guessing a system will work itself out by the time the bigger items get posted and I will also be more active on updating at that time.

For now each card will be posted with a starting price and will update periodically!
