Blue Hurricaine for sale.

Post by Worth » Thu Jul 27, 2006 6:41 pm

Friend is looking to sell a blue hurricaine. I will have the card shortly so that I can post scans, but I saw the card years ago and it's VERY nice, nrmt easily, more likely mint. I'm sure it's been in the same toploader all this time.

Any clues on what this card is worth? I know it's likely several thousand dollars, but I have almost no previous sale data to go on...

Info appreciated.

I'm not sure where you got that data from Axios, but it doesn't mesh with anything I've heard in the last 6 months. In fact, I thought the last one I saw a couple years back went for almost 4k. I could be wrong, I guess.

$1200 seems insanely cheap given that other far less desireable uncommons fetch that easily in nice shape.

In fairness to all interested parties...

I should mention that my friend is far less interested in selling it if the card isn't generating offers well over 2-3k+.

He'd probably just keep it and throw it back in the closet for another 10 years at that point.

Probably the best thing to do is put it on ebay and see what happens.

Worth,
Nice to see you in here again. How is the new office? You might want to contact dragsamou about the Hurricane. I've got some emails out looking for one, but your post is very timely as I've not heard back yet from a couple Hurricane owners I know.

Thanks for the responses, all.

Hey Forrest, new place is great...your stuff is framed and adorns the walls right next to R&D, I'll see if I can dig up a pic and post it for you.

Very cool stuff.

I'll talk w/ dragamou, thanks.

where did you get that info??
maybe the only uncomon fetching 1200 would be the demonic tutor.
the rest of the uncommons only reach a miaximum of 100/150 dollars.

have you checked ebay lately for summer?
i did ;)

completed listings:

all the cards haven't been sold.
if you go to page three is think, a uncommon desirable then the hurricane, wanderlust, sold for the amount of 69 dollars.

Summer is cooling down...finally! :D

I do not know if "summer" is really cooling down or not, but 95% of those auctions appear to be from "ccghouse", who are really over-valuing those cards. And to have so many of them PSA examined, really, what "summer" collector would care about PSA?
However, when looking at an undesireable type card like Erg Raiders, and it sold for only $20, I would agree that either it really is cooling down, or perhaps more likely, who cared about the Erg ;-)

Looking again at some of those cards, especially the lands PSA 9 and 10, what a completely crazy price that ccghouse is valuing them at.

Like how AXIOS has said, the last blue hurricane that went on ebay was around $1200~$1300. The Demonic tutor also sold that high because there was also a misprint, which is the no star on the forhead.

Only the very hard to find rares which are playable/collectable only go $2000+ range. For instance Tropical Island, Underground Sea, Volcanic Island all went $2000~$2500 if I remember correctly.

I figured out why I heard 3850, that was the price for a PSA 8 on eBay and verified by Inquest in the following article:

links to folks talking about the same card on wotc msg boards:

and finally, links to the hurricaines. hes got 2 of them, (only 1 is for sale, he doesnt care which one and I think the second is nicer, and a link to a wyvern back he wants to sell as well.):

Like I said, if the offers arent in line with what we are thinking, no biggie, we'll just put them back in his closet. :)

To be fair,

Troll and Toad is usually preposterously overpriced...

I think the card is going to rise in value so I'd hold (like you threaten to do) if you don't get an offer that appeals to you :-)
