Make a website!!!

Post by AbsolutAlphas » Tue Jun 21, 2011 6:59 pm

To all you people out there working on global sets, I'd like you to consider making a little website to show off your progress. I'm sure I'm not the only person interested in seeing what you've accomplished. Here's what I did for my Fungusaurs and it was a free service:

http://fungusaur.xtreemhost.com/

C'mon guys, let's see what you've got. :)

I'm tempted but it will take me a long time to scan all the angel I have. I might do this in the next few weeks unless I can find links to all the angels so I don't have to scan all of them.

I would love to put my display up and my promos but I don't know how to make a website and those that have offered to help me have become to busy to do anything :'-(

The host I use, which is xtreemhost.com, makes it super easy and it's free. You just pick a template and add pages as you need. If you know a little html, that helps.

I have a domain with Intuit but can't figure out what to do with it....LOL. Guess I need to get a HTML for Dummies book.

As soon as I am reunited with my scanner I will post up my progress of my global collections, it's already massive! 61% (260 of 426) of the Paladins) with 18 more Paladins on the way, and 36% (273 of 753) of the Benson collection with 187 more Benson cards on the way! =D> The Benson collection doesn't include the non-MTG cards she has done, either.

I look forward to posting my collection as soon as I can!

EDIT: had to correct Benson Collection numbers, Excel formulas weren't counting in a column.

I'd love to display my collection somehow - it's actually pretty sad that only very few of my friends saw it - but I can't think of a way to do it with 1566/2154 collected. Scanning is not exactly my favourite activity, let alone scanning over fifteen hundred cards. Some are on magiccards.info, but still... Meh. Too much work. :P

Have you considered laying them out on the floor or on a table and taking a picture? That's what I do for some of my larger lots. Like this:

Currently all my Angels are in 9 pocket pages front and back since that was the easiest when there were 18 of each version. Now that there are 20 it's a little more annoying. I should lay all the Serra Angels out since those are the only ones I have completed that I'm aware of from Alpha to 4th.

Well, a set of such photos would most likely show the scale of my collection, but I don't think it would look nice enough to present all the contents. It's not 80 copies of the same card - it's lot of various cards, languages, etc...
Also, this way every time I buy a card, I should take a new photo with certain set (e.g. "non foil Spanish").

if I had a the time and muse to do it I would make a video of all.
but for representation I like pp's idea, who did my page, that you can sort them in different sets languages.... thus scan them one by one.

That is what I have been trying to do to the pages in my display (about 3600 cards).

http://www.magiclibrarities.net/forum/v ... highlight=

but i keep ending up with the pages looking like barrels. I have been told it was my camera lense and was directed to a feature of Photoshop that would correct it. I have not been able to get a good representitive photo yet however.
