There was more than one revised printing, so perhaps the pack that looks like the UNL pack is from the '1st wave' of revised (only without treasures).
I have also noticed multiple revised starter decks where the gold foil appears either near the top of the deck, or in the middle. So there was at least 2 printings of the starters, maybe 3.

I remember overhearing some grumbling about the pull tab if that is what you are refering to on the starter decks. Seems like CM had trouble with it and experimented with it even mid-printings.
Packaging and print runs were not synchronized and packaging might change mid print run.
Question. Is some of this difference in color possibly caused by exposure to sun, as in some "faded" cards we see?

Don't look at the color difference, this is shurly a photo problem. You can only tell if there is a difference when both boosters would be on the same photo.mystical_tutor wrote: Question. Is some of this difference in color possibly caused by exposure to sun, as in some "faded" cards we see?
On the first gif-animation I tried to adjust the colors...

It's so similar to the unlimited booster, I don't think that it's a fake anymore. Why wouldn't a counterfeiter take the original booster instead of generating a booster from an unlimited one??Ertai's Familiar wrote:This is very strange. Seems like a print run variation would be the most likely source, though fakes seem reasonable as well.
But what is very strange: the Edgar booster is already like the 'usual' revised booster! So if this booster is real, it must be between Edgar and Unlimited!?

While the fonts are the same or near the same as the UL the location of stuff is really different and I agree with above that the "Revised Edition" really looks out of place. Hard to believe a templet like that would be approved for printing.pp wrote:It's so similar to the unlimited booster, I don't think that it's a fake anymore. Is it possible that the "new" pack is a transition test/printing between UL and 3rd where someone takes a look at it and says--this is not good enough, redo the thing to look right?
It would make sense in that the tendency is always to do the least amount of work possible so just take off "Unlimited" and add "Revised". But, why change by putting Revised above instead of in the same location as Unlimited was? Many more questions than answers.

Was he friendly enough that he might pass along a request to whoever bought it from a collector for more information?fancyman wrote:I contacted the seller but he said that he only had two from a long time ago and that he had sold them both. The mystery persists!

Humm 1987, I guess my Atari ST just didn't have that graphics package for that.pp wrote: Nowadays... its a simple gif animation, that was invented 25 years ago ;-)
