Post by berkumps » Wed Jan 30, 2013 3:35 pm

Price is too high for me, but maybe not for someone else:

A cool item nonetheless!

That is cool. first time I ever saw anything like that. There must have been others but evidently this one escaped the "trash man".

@May I go alone or will fight another Librarian?

However, I'm looking closely at it, and it looks fake...

The seal is horizontal, instead of vertical. Can somebody check this out with me? It looks strange.

Yes, it looks like it is sealed like a Japanese booster would be, with a large top, and small bottom, horizontal sealing. However, Japanese boosters were not sealed like this during Apocalypse. Not to mention this booster is not Japanese.

Does seem fishy.

That's really really sketchy. I don't think wotc produced "rack packs" for box stores back during Apocalypse. I asked the seller if it came out of a box that way or where they got it. We'll see if I get an answer.

The seal sure does look strange, now that it is pointed out to me.

The quality of the wrapping itself is the question I have. Surely no one would go to the trouble/expense of reproducing that for a single booster.

Is it possible to compare printing and layout? Probably not as there is no "straight-on" photo.

There's also not a clear photo, but that Booster looks like it doesn't contains 15 cards, it looks smaller than that. But that might be the point of view of the camera.

I own one of these. I bought it off ebay years ago but don't remember the source or the provenance. I would guess just three or four cards in it. I also have sheets of uncut wrappers so they could be illictly manufactured but it looks authentic to me. I don't remember what I paid but it was $59.
Looking back I should have been documenting prices paid. Learn from my mistakes.

The response I got:
This didnt come out of a booster box. It has a unpunched hole at the top of the booster... So i assume this was for to hang on the metal rods at retail, to be sold individually. I got this from a friend of mine
So, Apocalypse was a long time ago. I don't remember seeing these on racks in stores back then, or any time since then. Not Apocalypse, and certainly never knew of Apoc packs with fewer than 15 cards in them.
Have I been living in a bubble?

Horizontal seal, hole for racks, only 4 cards, "got this from a friend"... This is a brand new alien booster pack. Too much for my suspicious mind. :-k

The wrapper in the photo does specifically say "15 Additional Cards"

I guess it is "15 additional cards made of thin vellum"
