Just interested in yall's thoughts on the value of a sealed Unlimited booster box and a sealed antiquities box.

Tricky one that!

More than Revised of course and they are being offered for $1500+

For Unlimited the value is that it is unsearched, so you might get a mint condition Black Lotus, a Dual Land and a Mox. So that would be the value in the box, a few other cards worth looking out for as well of course but if you were buying it for investment those would be what you were hoping to pull out so you wouldn't want to pay much more than the value of those cards in mint condition.

If you find someone who collects sealed boxes and they need one then you are onto a winner!

I don't think a simple multiplication of the price for an individual booster times the number of boosters in a box would do it though.

If there was a decent grading company for boosters they might be able to class them as unsearched so you could sell them individually, but sealed, probably not enough recent sales data to go on (I only use eBay though)

Ask for ridiculous $$.

AQ booster is sealed, at least $100 per booster but I'd want a premium for the sealed box. Whatever you sell it for it will Be worth more within a year or two so may as well ask for speculative $$ and sit on it if people balk.

Unlimited Box I'd ask crazy $$. Who has these anymore?
There's too much upside in owning this versus selling... you sold a lot of sealed A/B product already though. Look how those starter decks have shot up in value. If you sell this I'd ask for what I think it would be worth in 5 years. Not sure how you can valuate this when the Duals alone keep going up every week... Whatever $$ you realize will likely seem like a steal (for the buyer) down the road imo.

This is a hard one.

The two most speculative considerations for me are:

1) Just keep it till there are no others.... LOL
2) Open it and have all the near good stuff graded. Best possible chance of getting some really nice grades and grades seem to be well worth their investment now days.

Still thinking.

If I were you Gary, I would keep it. Opening it and grading the cards would in my opinion be a worse investment than keeping the box sealed. Unless somebody offers you an astronomical amount that you can't refuse of course. But if you think the price you get offered is just "fair", you should keep it.

My 2 cents,

Matt

Because you think there is two unopen boosters boxes in the world ?
You should never open it. My guess is arround 35000 USD for the box.

The value on the UNL box will keep on going up. There's basically never a good time to sell and at some point after you do it you have lost $$. It's just a matter of time.

Where did you come up with $35k?

You do realize an Alpha box recently sold for less then that?
BGS 9+ Alpha set 282/295 (97.29%) Avg 9.41
BGS 9.5+ Beta set 283/302 (93.71%) Avg 9.58
BGS 9.5+ Arabian set 35/92 (38.04%) Avg 9.62
BGS 9.5+ Antiquities set 82/100 (82%) Avg 9.64
BGS 9.5+ Legends set 279/310 (90.00%) Avg 9.61

a booster sold 800 usd on ebay.
i think it s better to buy booster from a box sealed so i think they could sell 1000 each. there is 36 boosters in a booster box : 36 000.
But as the seller is generous and good he give a 1000 discount : 35000.
Is it wrong ?
alpha starter box ? with 10 starters ? sold for less ?
How much ?
3000 each starter ?
I would buy some if it s still possible.
You guys get better deal than me =D>

Just because a single booster sold for $800 doesn't mean anything.

I've purchased Beta boosters not that long ago for $1k each.

1 vs 36 is a big difference. The amount of people with $800 vs 5 figures is drastically different.

You need more sales then one lucky person to sell a pack at $800.

The last Alpha booster box sold for $30k. Last time I checked Alpha > Unlimited.

I'm almost certain you don't know what the last unlimited booster box sold for.

I never bought an unlimited booster box.
I bought them by pack 21 years ago and it was very cheap :-D
But i don t even remember the price in Francs (french money 21 years ago).

And also i don t know much about alphas. I though only starter exist ... I didn t know booster box exist ](*,)

Poeple here know much better than me the alpha and beta ! I know a little more on unlimited but nothing compare to what you guys know on the forum ...

I just looked the price of booster unlimited on ebay and i think in a sealed box it worth more but maby i am wrong.

But i don t think he should sell this box for less than 18 000 USD.
And if i was him i would try to get 30 000 USD for it.
That s what i think !

How much do you think it worth by the way ?

I made you an offer on the box Gary but you really should keep it unless you need the dough. I really don't think there are many out there. But if you want to sell it l'd love to buy it. I wouldn't open it though. I would just keep it like you should. Antiquities box I might be tempted to open to complete my Gem Mint set. But really it's very unlikely to be more economical to open either box and grade the cards.

Jon,
How much you offer for the box ?
If you open it, i would be happy to buy part of it.
Even, i would love to get the box empty ...
Let me know if you want me in the deal guys !
I bought 5 boosters starters and it was searched each time.
I was lucky i had some help to get refund.
Even once, i bought a beta starter and i recieved it open ...
Since i never bought any starter/booster from 93 but here i can beleve it s the real thing and i would be happy to get some.

Sorry for going off topic (have no idea about values on those items), but I thought I'd share my own little story here.

I recently bought 3 "unsearched UNL starter decks" on Ebay for relatively cheap, from a seller claiming to have found them at a garage sale and having no knowledge of MTG (feedback was obviously consistent with that). The pictures of the items were horrible and I didn't get answers to my questions before bidding ended. In the end, I tried my luck and placed a bid in the final seconds.

Of course the boxes came unsealed and opened, so I was ready to get mad and start my quest for a refund... then I decided to go through the cards, which were there after all, and found nothing but a Sinkhole... until the VERY last card (they had gotten mixed in the boxes too) which was .... Timetwister in a condition that would 100% fetch at least 9 if not 10 grading !

A rather interesting experience for me after all

Maybe these Vintage sealed or quasi-sealed products are not so rare in absolute terms after all, but I'm sure they're sitting forgotten in closets and cellars all over the place :-\

I recently met a guy I had introduced to MTG back in 1994, when FBB italian had just come out, and I'm 100% positive he had at least 2-3 duals. I asked him what he had done with the cards, and he said he'd just thrown them away, believing they were worthless.
