Sealed Legends Booster Box value ???

Post by WrathoGod21 » Fri Apr 24, 2015 9:03 am

Hi folks,

I am just about to buy 2 or 3 boxes of Legends (English). The private seller asks 3000€, which is roughly about 3250$, per box.
The boxes looking brand new. He bought them back in 1994.

Now I would like to hear your opinions if this is a "good" price for one Legends booster box.
Should I go for it with the intention to resell the boxes?

Let me know what you guys think.

Best,
WrathO

Boxes on Ebay have been selling in the $5000+ range so I would not hesitate long before grabbing them all!

Yes I saw those boxes as I went through the "run out" auctions on ebay.com.

But I wasn't sure they were really sold for those prices. And I really think it depends on the condition of the box, doesn't it?

Appreciate your help!

You should definitely buy them all yes!

All right, thank you guys for your advice!

But what's about the condition of the boxes?
I uploaded two pictures of the "most damaged" box:

What do you think? Is it still worth buying? I think so.[/url]

Could you elaborate on that? I mean it's still a sealed box and the booster will be in great shape nonetheless.

A Sealed Collector looking for an almost Mint box will not buy it, now if the point is to resell the boosters individually, it's another story. Knowing that Each booster box contained only half of the uncommon cards in the set and that an unsearched Legends Booster is 145/150$ nowadays meaning 5220/5400$ if you sell the 36 boosters minus commission if you sell on Ebay, etc...

Assuming the boosters in the box didn't get damaged and even though you don't search the packs good luck with people believing it.
Maybe it's a good buy but it does look risky imo.

Thanks to both of you.
You're right it's hard to convince someone packs aren't searched. There is -justifiably - always some lack of reliance when buying old, transparent booster.

However, 3000 euro is a sweet price. It's a tough call...

It's all about trust, I have bought a bunch of unsearched transparent boosters back in the years from Members here also on Ebay from ex-WOTC employees, etc...I believe also that a search booster, there's marks on it, but I'm really not an expert, I've never search any boosters. 3000€ is indeed a sweet price nowadays.

I bought a box last week for $4750. It's in very nice condition, almost pristine.
My intent at some point is to pop it open.

Let us know what happens.

Tricky!

If the box is not good enough for selling as a sealed item then is it worth sending the boosters for grading?

Not sure if it would be worth the additional expense but at least it would give some guarantee that they have not been interfered with.

I personally don't collect boosters in slabs but I have seen them for sale on eBay.

Boxes are now for sale. See my new thread in "Standard Magic Products"

Thanks again for your help!
