Because I can't close the lid of my scanner when I am doing the boxes (without crushing them), the background is black. So I have added a black background to the images and it seems to blend in with them quite nicely.

Let me know if this change causes any issues because if it doesn't. I will use it for the Tournament Packs.
I don't know which scanner you own, but don't you have the possibility to move the top of the scanner in a way it can scan documents with bigger size (most scanner do) ? That's what I use for Sealed Starter, Two Player Starter, etc. to prevent crashing them.

I use a RICOH MPC305SPF at work, it has a document handler on the top of the lid which makes it very heavy and the hinges really aren't made to support the weight, ok for scanning books and other thick items but I worry about the boxes getting crushed.

I could also use some blocks either side of the boxes to take the weight but the grey border is not much better than the black one. At least the black is consistent on all sides, the grey gets darker and lighter around the boosters.

I will eventually use a camera set up and replace the scans when I transfer the boxes into their final protective cases, but they haven't made one I like yet.

I have seen a few acrylic cases but they are expensive and not 100% to my taste!

Black background is fine then for Starters. I don't have any specific protective case for sealed starters either (same comment as you), I still use MTG display deck.

Link to scans.

I have trialled two ways of showing the sides, one is upright, you can't read them properly but you can see them all on the screen at the same time to make comparisons.

The other way makes the writing easier to read, but you probably can't fit them all on the screen if you wanted to look for changes etc.

I will probably go with the version which makes them easier to read as I assume that is what most people will be looking for.
