Print variations in chinese 4th BB Uncommons

Post by mmgun » Sun Aug 24, 2014 2:43 pm

It was mentioned earlier, that Killer Bees and Carrion Ants have variations in the alignment of their Power/Toughness.
I recently found more of these issues in the set, so i want to find out, how many exist at all. Only uncommons seem to be affected.
If you have a lot of chinese 4th BB uncommons, please check if you find more of these variations:

Additionally i found a picture of 4th BB Uthden Troll with a white dot next to the 2/2. Can anyone confirm, this variation exists ? So far i just own regular versions.

I just opened 2 boxes of T-C 4th starter decks. I'll check when I'm home.

How very odd. One has a smaller font for power & toughness. Must have been printed with a different printing plate. Either the first was in error and was corrected or it broke and was replaced?

I opened several boxes of starters years ago. All my uncommons are of the variation on the left, and none of my trolls have dots.

This means these are variations between multiple print runs. Has anyone opened any booster boxes? I have only ever seen starters.

Nope, just normal collation in these starters :(

On another note, I posted previously about receiving Killer Bees artist proofs with both variations, so not sure how this happens.

Weird. The only explanation seems to be two printing plates that worked simultaneously. If someone was under time pressure, this would make sense. On the other hand, building up two printing presses would have elevated the production costs a lot.

Well, we've seen from the card design research that these were designed before Japanese, but not released until afterward. Maybe they used two presses because they were behind schedule?

If this were the case, then I guess artist proofs were produced through both means as well.

I found all the variations pictured above (although I didn't get a regular balloon brigade). I also found Osai Vultures not pictured above:

And I found both versions of the Troll, although I think they came from separate boxes:

I just opened a Carrion Ants with tiny P/T in a T-C 4th booster pack, so I've got it from both boosters and starters.

If by any chance you have a spare Troll with "Dot" , this is very hard to come by, because most people think i am crazy when i ask them to check for that dot )-:

Can't add much. All of my extra UC (collection binder not available atm) have the large P/T--same as commons and rares

Happens every time. As soon as I open my mouth it all changes.

Got a AP of the Killer Bees today with the small p/t on them so add one more to the list.
